Living a lost dream - Pottery
There are things that we wanted to do in life but somehow we never get the right opportunity and time to fulfil these small wishes and time flows like river. Ever since I was a kid I was fascinated by pottery to be specific 'Kullar' ( local indian handmade tea cup made of clay) . There were many potters living near to my grandfather's house so I watched them very closely. Never had the courage to let my feelings exposed to the world.
Few days back on FB, I got know about the workshop where a polish artist Izabela Baranska invited the enthusiasts to come and join the pottery workshop and somehow I could not stop myself but registered for it.

Whatsapp and friendship
Few days back , I joined whatsapp and here are some thoughts :
- Technically , It is light-weight and very fast for media files like pictures, videos etc.
- It is great way to connect with group of friends from the same domain. I am so fortunate that that I met lot of my class-12 friends via this group and it helped us in realizing that down under, we are still same kind of people as we were in 1992. As it happens in real-life, some of these friends were not my best friends then but this group converted them to best friends because best Friends are the ones who keep in touch with you when they go away from college no matter how busy they are...It also stamped again that heart never grows old...Our heart is as fresh and bubbly as it was and we are equally or even better sensible when it comes to 'non-sense' :). The fact is that we have grown over these years and developed a level of maturity and earned the titles like Dad,Sir,Damadji,Jijai... and don't get time to be ourselves again. The group has offered the opportunity still we all are not same so some of us are always sharing and active on this group and some of us are show up as and when need arise but what is important here is the 'feeling of togetherness' . No matter how busy are we , we read and listen to each-other and smile ( if not via emoticons ) and are always there for each-other.
- Yesterday a friend from this group sent the following song and I who always think that our bollywood songs capture emotions very well was positively surprised...

Marriage - Personal Need or Social Desire ?
Sometimes we think about the our own life events and if something we can't understand then we ask questions from ourselves and expect that we get the answers for the same questions for which we don't have answers.... This happened with me when I read the following article on some website. I am copying it because I don't know how long they will keep in there :
If there is something Indian parents are more eager than getting their kids to clear IIT about, it is getting them married. The moment you enter your mid twenties, the whole world around you discovers a new found obsession to see you tying the knot. Why? Why is it that marriage has been made into the ultimate life goal? Here, we tell you why it’s perfectly fine if you never want to get married.
1. Marriage is just a label. If you want to be committed to someone, you don’t need a piece of paper telling you that. You can be as dedicated, committed and loving a partner as anyone else without getting married.
2. Contrary to what parents think, a marriage cannot guarantee a secure, lifelong relationship. What has to go wrong will go wrong. People who don’t want to stick around, won’t, either way. And people who truly love you will stay by your side without any declaration. You don’t need to get married to be sure your partner is never going to leave you.
3. It’s strange how some people will spend the rest of their lives with people they don’t even love, suffering every day, just because their parents got them married. It’s funny how a life of compromise is what they see as a solution to a failed marriage. It’s much better to be in a relationship that you can break out of if things don’t go well than hanging on to the wrong person.
4. We weren’t born to get married. It’s not as necessary as the Indian society makes it to be. Life is still going to be as good, even if you’re unmarried. Marriage is just an institution and you can choose not believe in it, like religion. There’s nothing wrong with not conforming to the idea of marriage if you don’t believe in it. As simple as that.
5. Not all relationships pass the test of time. If break ups weren’t hard enough already, things get unmanageably rough if the two partners are married! Divorces are messy. Always. Whether or not the separation is out of mutual consent. When two people decide to end a long term relationship that they’ve invested their soul and heart into, getting into legal hassles is the last thing they want to be involved in. And don’t even get us started on the alimony laws in the country!
6. Your twenties are the time when you finally get out of your shell and explore the many possibilities of life. It is perfectly normal to not want to get tied down by marriage. There is nothing more fulfilling than living life on your own terms and you shouldn’t exchange that for anything in the world!
7. An average Indian lives for 70 years. He is still not an adult till the age of 18. And, gets married by the age of 25. All he gets is 7 years, 7 out of 70 years of his life, to find a woman he loves. Most people never find ‘the one’ because they get married before they can even try! There’s no acceptable age to fall in love. Why can’t we be dating till we actually find someone worth settling down with?
8. Some people want a happily ‘married’ life, some have different priorities. It is perfectly okay to never want to have a wife back home, a house with kids. Some of us just want to be independent all our lives, living by ourselves, doing what we love, doing what we want.
9. We grow up seeing everyone getting married around us and assume it is a stage every man has to go through. But how many people who get married do so because they really want to? It just doesn’t make sense to rush into marrying just because everyone else is.
10. In India, you don’t just marry your partner, you marry their whole family. And truth be told, families are the reason why a married couple is always fighting. If one pair of parents isn’t enough, you get another one that loves getting involved in everything you do. It’s fair to not want so much baggage in a relationship. A relationship is always happier till there aren’t more people involved other than the two partners. And sadly, that’s just not possible in marriages.
11. There’s a lot that is terribly wrong with Indian marriages. The society won’t let you live in peace till you get married. Giving in looks like the solution, but it only makes things worse. Getting married is only the beginning. Once you’re married, a dozen more expectations will be set on you – to have children, to buy a bigger house, an even bigger car. The society will lay down all the rules for you on what is the purpose of a marriage, how an Indian couple behaves and what a successful marriage should mean. It’s really not worth it.

Nice quote to manage finance ..I do take note of it.
1.Save Money on Fuel : He drives his own car everywhere and does not have a driver nor security people around him.
2.Use public transport ( if possible) :He never travels by private jet, although he owns the world’s largest private jet company.
Advice From Warren Buffett For us :
1. Don’t go on brand name; just wear those things in which you feel comfortable.
2. Don’t waste your money on unnecessary things; just spend it on what you really need.

Starting a business in Norway ...as easy as 1,2,3
As I have plan to start a social business and in preparation
to that I took the opportunity to understand the basics when I saw an
article in Aftenposten. So thankfully I was a part of a seminar run by
Oslo kommune where where we had a short introduction to 'starting a
company in Norway' . This was the easiest and convenient way to attract
the entrepreneurs to startup business in Norway.
More information about this seminar is mentioned here :

Cleverness vs Kindness
Founder and CEO of Amazon.com Jeff Bezos was talking at TED. His some points made me rethink of life as they went straight in.He said that everyone of us has 2 options to reflect our character in life :
1-Cleverness - Gift
2-Kindness - Choice
'Cleverness is a gift, Kindness is a choice. ' - Jeff made the case that our character is reflected not in the gifts we're endowed with at birth, but by the choices we make over the course of a lifetime. Many times( or all the time) during our lifetime we have the option of :
- being clever by our deeds and words
- being kind by our deeds and words
- being kind and clever both
Sometimes, we overestimate ourselves with our gift. And some bad decisions force us to pay an arm and a leg. Many times we realized our mistake and try to take it back but sometimes it becomes difficult to go back the way things were. If we are unlucky, it can ruin our whole life.He gave example from his life when his intention was to be admired for being clever and smart but it did not work out that well.
PS ! One can be clever and be kind, but if you are trying to be clever, then you run the risk of being neither. Trying to be clever makes it about you. Being kind is about the other.

Can Social networks assist job hunting ?

Here in Norway ( and in many other western countries like States,UK,Canada...) most of the recruiters invariably do Google to find out the suitability of prospective employees who have foreign origin( it does not mean that they don't do it for native people) .They do it because as foreigners it is difficult for them to find out the personality of another foreigner( because culture plays a role in personality) who comes from a not only from a different country but from a different continent.Dating partners,Landlords do online research about each other before they get into deeper waters. Even neighbours do digital social network snooping on neighbours.
How it works for Employers :
- They Google search on their prospective candidates and explore social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and LinkedIn to cross-check before they hire anyone.
- They read blogs, comments, posts to understand your attitude.nature and philosophy.
- All the time they give a call to reference (mentioned in resume) and confirm about his behaviour , attitude and work-ethics( not much emphasis is there on technical side as these calls are made by HR guys- who typically do not have much idea about the technical aspects).
Positive side : Now one can use these social networking sites as an extension to resume and
SO DO NOT RESTRICT YOUR RESUME TO RESUME....LET MAKE DIGITAL SOCIAL RESUME.
Recommendations :
- Create Blogs and share your technical and social ideas with others.
- Post your response on others blogs.
- Have a detailed(matching) linked-in profile which gives the SAME information but in different style( so that you can explain your career in different perspective)
- Avoid sharing your spur-of-the-moment opinions, risque photos and outrageous experiences with others including strangers, the danger of compromising your digital identity, privacy and social reputation and, consequently career prospects, is tremendous.
- Try to avoid making public comments ( which have many meanings) as when information goes viral, we cannot recall it a curse of the digital age. Eg. Many Indian politicians/celebrities have been discovering that people have taken their twitter comments in different context.
- Always remember that our digital pasts may not be undone and can haunt us.
- Settings : On all the networking sites they have provided some features that can help us to limit our personal information available online; so change your private settings, delete unwanted comments and remove your names from any photos tagged to identify you ( that is not needed). recently I have a call from friend of mine and he asked about some information that I changed on my facebook account and then I realized that I have to change my Facebook privacy settings to restrict some information outflow......
Another IITan takes 'Yes we can' initiative
Another IITian has taken the initiative to change the Indian rural environment.25 year old Rohit Garhwal(IIT-khg 2008) now cherishes a dream of developing an international platform for the traditional agriculture art & craft forms and agriculture and minimise the exodus of rural talent to cities. He has left fortune 500 company job and
To achieve his dream :
- He left his job and
- joined as consultant of an NGO Helplads
- and now got admitted into IIM-A.
- He started the groundwork travelling daily from one dusty village to another on the state roadways bus to the hinterland of Sikar,
presiding over small public gatherings, explaining to the villagers the need for education and healthcare to alleviate their social and economic status.
- He uses his technical skills and organises workshops on themes ranging from the basics of a computer to robotics for village children.
- He plans fund-raising activities along with developing business models for small-time social entrepreneurs in this region.
Born in Guman ka Bas village of Sikar district, Garhwal received call letters from all IIMs.Garhwal said that there is no substitute for grit and hard work.
"My father is an uneducated man but he wanted me to study well," he said, adding his father, Kishan Kumar Garhwal, a farmer in Guman ka Bas village, is his source of inspiration.
"When I was a child, my father told me stories of great men like Lal Bahadur Shastri and Gopal Krishna Gokhale. He tough me the importance of education by narrating tales of Gokhale,
who studied under street lamps at night," Garhwal said.

Delhi Airport Express train - A whole New experience
I was visiting my father on this Holi and landed at terminal 3 of IGI airport,Delhi in early morning. I was out of airport in 30 minutes(super quick).I suddenly saw Delhi airport express train signage just out of gate number 4. As I had time in between my journey to Lucknow, I thought to explore it.......I enjoyed the Delhi airport express train operated by Delhi Airport Metro Express Pvt. Ltd. (DAMEPL) and believe me it live upto it's expectation of 'A whole New experience'.I was mesmerized to see the facilities at the IGI station for airport express train like automatic ticketing machine, ticket kiosk and friendly English speaking staff to help the passengers. The price of one way ticket is kind of nothing as compared to what is being charged in another big cities for similar services.(see comparisons below).
London : 16.5 pound ( 1185 rupees)
Paris(RER line) : 9 Euro (568 rupees)
Oslo : 170 kroners (1373 rupees)
New delhi : 80 Ruppes( in future it will go upto 150 rupees)
Air-conditioned Delhi airport express train now runs between Dwarka(sec 21) station and New Delhi railway station (Paharganj side) and in between covers IGI airport,Delhi Aerocity(NH 8), Dhaula Kuan Station,Shivaji stadium. Now it operates with frequency of 20 minutes starting from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.It has 5 underground stations and one elevated one. plateforms on all the stations are covered with glass to avoid any problem and maintain cleanness. Security is very tight as reliance has hired the security personnel from government agencies.Facilities of trolleys are their for luggage on every station and very soon check-in facilities are going to start at ND station and Shivaji station as most of the airlines has already opened their counters but not started serving yet. Coaches are imported from CAF spain and are very spacious(and different from regular metro coaches) with ample space for luggage.
So India has proved that , when it comes to world class service , we can provide world class services at very reasonable price.
Why Neem Honey should be used more for healthsake ?
My niece has comparably weaker immune system and thus she is susceptible to cold. On my recent visit to India , one of the experienced KGMC,lucknow doctor told me to give her the some natural things to improve his immunity. One of those things was Neem Honey. He asked her and us to use it in our daily life as it is full of Vitamins & Minerals. I did some efforts before I finally got a bottle of Neem Honey at matabadal pansari,Aminabad.
Later I tried to explore the goodness of Neem Honey and surprised to know that it is one of the finest Honey type for everybody. It is obtained from the Neem tree. So Neem Honey is natural blend of anti-inflammatory+anti-tussive+antiseptic qualities of Neem plus antiviral and faster curing properties of Honey. As per the records :
1. It is good for improving eye sight.
2. Harmless for diabetic patients.
3. Good Blood Purifier.
4. Improves complexion of body.
5. Natural tonic for kids.
Best Usage: One Teaspoon before bedtime or once a day in the morning before breakfast.
Note : Do not mix with anything HOT as this will destroy the live enzymes in the honey and cause some of the venom to evaporate.
Some more points for Honey in general :
Ancient Greek athletes consumed honey to boost their energy and performance levels during Olympics events as it contains glucose and fructose, known to produce tremendous reserves of glycogen in the liver.1-TS in night can support our brain function. The fructose is stored as energy reserves in the liver, ready to fuel the brain overnight.
Colds are caused by viruses and honey is a natural antiviral. In a Pennsylvania State College of Medicine study, a spoonful of honey outperformed over-the-counter cold remedies.,Research in 2007 by Shone Blair at Sydney University concluded that honey dressings for superbug wound infections should be used as a 'first choice'.
Honey supports friendly gut bacteria, aiding digestion, and is good for those with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and thrush. According to previous studies, one should consume 2 TS , 3 times a day for gastric ulcers.
Honey boosts the immune system and has an antibacterial effect internally and externally, helping the body to heal.

Advice - Healthy and cheap food(Norway)
I found the Following advice on the norwegain health directorate website(http://www.helsedirektoratet.no)
- Look for cheaper brands that offer products in all the basic food groups.
- Save money by providing more space for vegetables and potatoes on dinner plates and less room for meat. Beans and lentils are healthy, and you save money if they replace the meat.
- 1 kg frozen vegetables can be inexpensive and suitable for many dishes.

Google Search tips
- Let's say, for example, that you'd like to search for a PDF of Ernest Hemingway's novel The Sun Also Rises. The proper search phrase would be 'sun also rises filetype:pdf.'
- Use the trigger word 'movie:*** brwill ask you for your location if you haven't registered it already with the search engine. Once you provide that information, Google will instantly return a listing of movie theatres where the film is playing, along with showtimes. The triggers 'film' and 'showtimes' work identically, by the way.
- Need to find out how many dollars you can get for a certain number of euros? Easy. Just type, for instance, '400 euros in dollars,' and you'll have the answer even before you can finish typing 'dollars,' thanks to Google's Auto Suggestion feature.
- find an image of a search phrase, just add the word 'image' at the end of the phrase. For example, typing 'Jefferson image' brings up images of Thomas Jefferson.
- And adding 'time' to the end of the name of a city or country will result in Google's telling you what time it is in that place.

Future of flying for me...
As I am not very much aware about the technical development related to aviation so as passenger , for me the future of planes would be like this :
Interior :
1. More adjustable seats with features like messaging and heating,ECG,BP.
2. There will be more wider windows elsewhere too,so that passengers can get view of the sky ahead and around.I miss this a lot....
3. Free Internet surfing and multimedia experience for every passenger with features like Music,Video on-demand(not the common TV viewing) and free ISD phone.
4. A recreation room/area where passengers can enjoy some special games like chess, carom-board...
5. Special smoking zone where one can lit the cigarette without fire or something like that.
6. Flexible play area with wide-screen for young kids.
Exterior :
1. Plane with such a structure which can shed off its weight(if required) and can float/swim in water in case of emergency.
2. Plane with some extra parts which can reuce the speed of plabe drastically -IF REQUIRED IN CASE OF EMERGENCY TO AVOID collision.
3. Use of carbon composite materials in structure.
4. Use of alternate fuels like bio-fuel.
