Indian entrepreneurship example in healthcare sector
Location : Devanahalli, on the outskirts of Bangalore,Karnataka
Area : Healthcare
Est. Year : 2011
Project Objective :Setup a system (Drishti) to provide primary and secondary eye care services for people living in underserved areas.
Mission :
1. Have social impact
2. Be Sustainable
3. Be scalable
Seed Capital : 50 lakhs
People :
1. 40 year old software engineer and
2. His wife(Anjali Joshi)
3. Ophthalmologist Rajesh Babu, 34
Industry Analysis :
The healthcare space is one of the most attractive bets by risk capital in India. In the first half of 2012, the healthcare sector in the country recorded equity investments of $749 M across 25 deals, bypassing the long-dominant favourite - IT sector says a report by PWC."It (eye care) is a $5-billion industry, which is extremely unorganised with a large gap when it comes to empirical data. However, investors know that an entrepreneur will have to identify the right market," says AM Arun,Vasan Eye Care, India's leading chain of eye care hospitals. He believes the rising demand for healthcare allows for better valuations of new ventures in the sector. It is a philosophy that industry experts tracking the sector are also beginning to subscribe to.According to PWC' Sanjeev Krishan, the industry's increasing attractiveness for private equity is driven by the premise that healthcare combines elements of retail, consumer products and infrastructure - areas private capital has traditionally invested in."Healthcare has elements of all these industries with less accompanying risk," Krishan, leader,PwC, said.
Business Model :
Drishti operates on a simple model. The 2 vision(Bagepalli , Vijaypura) centres screen patients and reports are sent to the ophthalmologist in the secondary care centre. Within 15 minutes of receiving the data, the doctor responds with his assessment. Additionally, it also hosts 10 eye camps a month in semi-urban and rural areas.
"For cases that require more detailed treatment, an appointment with the ophthalmologist is booked, and the patient is brought from the centre and then dropped back," says Joshi.
The co-founders expect to have their hospital to be fully equipped with operating theatres by January 2013.
"Our belief is that prospective investors expect returns equivalent to 15-20%, and I think we should be able to meet that," Anandampillai said. "We won't be giving them a return right now. We must first turn cash-flow positive and the target for that is 18 to 24 months".
To turn profitable, Drishti will first have to scale operations by ensuring that individual units are first profitable and can generate enough surplus to fund future expansion. Anandampillai expects to have at least 10 operational centres by the end of 2013. "We should be cash-flow positive within 18 months of receiving the investment. At that point, we should be clocking revenue of about Rs 1 crore," he said.
For which point Aamir Khan should apologize ?
"Winners Don't do Different things they do things differently"
Many people compared his show with Opera Winfrey but I do not believe that this comparison has any meaning as both are differently presented and perceived.
First 3 episodes( female foeticide, child sex abuse and big fat Indian wedding) could not evoke sharp criticism against Aamir but fourth episode converted many of his admirers/fans to foes. Why ? Because here he criticized the malpractices of medical profession and raise the issue of corruption in medical profession.
21 medical associations of medical professions got united against him and demanded an apology from Aamir khan for throwing the bad light on medical profession. Like any other part of world medical profession is very hard-working and respectful profession. All the young kids who get selected into the MBBS,BDS,MS... are bright and intelligent brains. So this demand a close scrutiny of Aamir's show and so I watched it twice and noted down the following details :
Show start : Aamir started his show with the words 'I am concerned about healthcare system'.
example-1 : Vektesh of Mumbai got bad treatment from a doctor.
example-2 : A girl from audience described her ordeal with doctor.
example-3 : Major Pankaj rai story who lost her wife because of some doctor.
Aamir said - "Doston Galti kisi se bhi ho sakti hai . Doctor bhi ek insaan hai usse bhi ho sakti hai. hum galti ki baat nahi karenge hum niyat ki baat karenge"
example-4 : Pathology owner Dr. Anil Picchar described how he has been treated by other doctors when he started his lab. He described commission that is widely paid to doctors for pathological tests.
example- 5: Dr. Amol pandit described his reason why he left India and working in Wales,UK (referral commission ).
example- 6 : Case of women of whole village in Andhra Pradesh who lost their uterus.
example- 7 : what happened in MCI in past few years.Boss of MCI Dr. K.K. Talwar could not deny what Aamir put forward. ( Aamir has the data for 50 years via RTi but he just got answer for past 4 years does he is at fault for answer he got for RTI ?)
After this he said - "Our health system is ill but we will find where is the root cause"..and show continues ...
example- 8: Dr. C.M. Gulati talked that health is least priority in our system and said that privation of medical collages is increasing and govt. operated medical collages are increasing and he justified why the doctor is charging more money. He said medical profession is UNVIABLE.
Dr. Gulati himself said that 30% commission is paid to doctor for prescribing specific medicines. He says medical area 'bribe Lena jurm nahi hai lena hai' - Aamir did not say anything.
After this Aamir moves to solution and says there are 2 basic challenges :
1- how to give good health services
2- how to make them affordable for all
example - 9 : Dr. Devi Shetty's hospital Narayan Hridayala is lauded for affordable health care solution. He justifies how they made healthcare affordable.Aamir says - "YOU ARE INSPIRATION TO ALL."
example - 10 : Private medical vs generic medical purchase case is discussed. Dr. Samit Sharma is lauded for Generic medical stores. He said that medicines are being sold at very high prices.
Aamir says that Rajasthan govt has done good job by opening the generic medicine shops.
Aamir concluded that "THERE ARE MANY DOCTORS WHO ARE COMPROMISING WITH THE HEALTH OF THEIR PATIENTS BUT IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT ALL THE DOCTORS ARE DOING SO. STILL THERE ARE PLENTY OF GOOD DOCTORS WHO ARE DOING THE YEOMEN SERVICE AND HE SALUTES THOSE DOCTORS"
Now my question is - For which point Aamir should apologize ?
- For the examples that were presented on the show ?
- Should he aplogized for what ALL the DOCTORS (Dr. Anil Picchar,Dr. Amol pandit,Dr. C.M. Gulati,Dr. K.K. Talwar,Dr, Devi Shetty,Dr. Samit Sharma) said on the show ?
- For the good words that he said about the doctors or the words he said about the pathetic condition of our health care system ?
Just 2 more points :
1. Which of the following fact(which SJ discussed) is distorted or biased :
---> Doctors NEVER take commission from pathology against the tests?
---> Doctors ALWAYS write generic medicine names on prescriptions ?
---> Private Medical collages are being opened more as compare to Govt. ones.
---> India spends less than 2% of its GDP on health sector.
---> Since 2008 NO doctors have been suspended by MCI for not following the MCI norms ?
2. If all doctors are agree(against what was said on SJ)then why they are not asking the organization like Ask the IMA(Indian Medical Association) and medscape to terminate the membership all those 7 doctors who were part of the SJ episode. If not then it means that MAJORITY of doctors agree with Aamir and SJ.
If you are Noodle lover ...Do read this !!
DO NOT IGNORE THIS ... Especially those fond of Maggi...
INCORRECT WAY OF COOKING NOODLES'
Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it's ready to eat.
This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.
By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structure of the MSG, causing it to be toxic.
The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have eaten the noodles.
CORRECT METHOD:
1. Boil the noodles in a pot of water.
2. Once the noodles are cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
3. Boil another pot of water, add the cooked noodles into the hot boiling water and then turn off the stove.
4. Only at this stage when the stove is off, and while the water is very hot, add the flavouring powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
5. However, if you need dry noodles, remove the noodles and add the flavouring powder and toss it to get dry noodles.
Dietician's Note:
If you buy plain hakka noodles which you make, you initially need to boil in water and discard the water. This will soften the noodles but to prevent it from sticking we need to add a tbsp of oil and also the noodles are deep fried partially to make them crunchy and then dusted with flour to prevent them from sticking while boiling. Hence when you buy the noodles they are already made unhealthy and this is the type we use to make stir fry noodles and the regular Maggie too is made the same way, plus they add MSG / Ajinomoto and other chemical preservatives.
A large number of patients with ages ranging from 18-24 years are ending up with pancreatitis either as a swelling or infection of the pancreas due to regular consumption of instant noodles... If the frequency is more than 3 times a week, then it is very hazardous...

2012 : An attempt to check the fitness level...
" Having thoughts of 'I could do' or 'I should do' leads you down the path of DOING NOTHING! Stop rationalizing your thought process of I could or I should and choose to take the positive initiative to do! Lead others to do the same and remember there is no try! Do it and DO IT BIG!!!"
and while in the hotel lift I saw the ad of stylist gym at Radisson Blue ; An idea struck to take above words into action ; Decided to check the fitness level of my body and so started doing some exercise in evening and noting down some of the stats...(just for self introspection...) and so I continued daily to see what is easy for me( of course and quick ). After 4 days of short routine I had some stats to review and take it from there and here it is .........
Monday :
Treadmil ; 2 km - 110 kcal - 2.5 degree
Lat machine : 15x25 kg,15x30 kg
Tuesday :
Treadmil ; 3 km - 250 kcal - 2.5 degree
Lat machine : 15x25 kg,15x30 kg
Wednesday :
Treadmil ; 2 km - 100 kcal - 2.5 degree
Arm curl : 2x(20x25) kg
Lat machine : 15x25 kg,15x30 kg
Chest Press : 2x(15x25kg)
Thursday :
Treadmil ; 3.5 km - 300 kcal - 2.5 degree
Arm curl : 30x25 kg
Lat machine : 15x25 kg,15x30,15x35 kg
Chest Press : 3x(15x25kg)
and the BMI is 25( height 167 and weight 69.8 kg).....Just overweight :) :(
I never ever thought that some stats can declare me OVERWEIGHT but stats are stats.
This was not what I expected out of my body as well but considering the work schedule I had no reason to complain.....but to do better in the next coming days of 2012.
Thanks Chrostopher - For great dish
Ingrediants are explained in picture but for more details contact me personally.....
It was equally healthy ......just some use of oven for few minutes ...otherwise no cooking.......(isn't sad for Indian like me :) )
Oiling our Health !!!
This kind of confusion always gave me less satisfaction considering the fact that Indians are highly prone to heart diseases and one of the major reason is the food we eat.Since 95% of Indian food is cooked in oil so oil becomes inevitably the main factor to concentrate on.
This led me to do some research on internet before I come up with following conclusion :
1. Olive oils is the best for cooking in all the respect.Second best could be Canola oil.
2. As we Indian use oil for sauteing, stir-frying, panfrying, or deep-frying so lower-quality olive-oil of normal grade olive oil is good enough as it hold its heat well( it has higher smoke point). So how to do it...
When the skillet is hot, add olive oil and let it heat up 30-90 secs. to just below the smoke point before adding food.

3. Drizzle olive oil over salad, pasta or mix it into salad dressing or sprinkle over rice.
4. Use olive oil in marinades or sauces for meat, fish and vegetables. Oil penetrates nicely into the first few layers of the food being marinated and give better flavour as well.
5. Since olive oil is a fruit juice so air, heat and light will cause olive oil to turn ranacid( which taste buttery) so it should be stored in dark cabinet away from stove and sunlight(ideal temp. 14 degree) and tight capped as well.
2. Avoid using butter and coconut oil for cooking.
Usage : 1 tablespoon of butter = 3/4 tablespoon of olive oil.
What is the Best Breakfast ?
Breakfast should include protein and plenty of fiber; the combination will help satisfy our hunger and will keep us feeling full until lunch time. The protein can come from low-fat meat, eggs, nuts or dairy products. High-fiber foods include fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Mind it that we all are living in busy+expensive world and so a healthy breakfast doesn't need to be extravagant or take a long time to prepare.
Recently I read about a survey conducted in Britain where people between 19 and 64 years of age were involved in sampling to find out what breakfast works among them as 'best'.
Conclusion : The best way to start the morning is with-a bowl of cereal+egg, as it makes people less likely to turn to fatty, sugary food through the rest of the day.People who eat breakfast cereal generally eat less fat, saturated fat and sugar than those who do not and have better intakes of protein and important micro-nutrients, such as iron, vitamins and calcium.
Cereal should be combined with an egg(preferably boiled with or without yolk).
Why Cereal ? Cereal is a good source of calcium and numerous other key nutrients, such as fibre, protein and carbohydrate. There are many options in cereals we have :
- Corn flakes ( less fibre ,less iron )
- Bran flakes ( made of wheat and has more fibre and iron )
- Musli
- Seeds ( Muskmelon Cantalope i.e kharbooja..)
- Raisins
- Oat-based cerials like Cheerios ; oatmeal - contains helps in decreasing LDL(bad cholesterol)
- Shredded Wheat
- PLUS - Adding some fruits like banana and strawberry can enhance fruity touch to breakfast as well.
Tips : If possible then go for fortified cereals as they have more nutrients.
Why Egg ?
- One egg contains 5.5/6 grams of protein and some healthful unsaturated fats.
- The average large egg contains 212 mg of cholesterol. All the cholesterol lies in yolk.
- Eggs are also a good source of choline, which has been linked with preserving memory, and lutein and zeaxanthin, which may protect against vision loss.(More than 90% of Americans are choline-deficient.)
- Egg also contains - vitamin D which is necessary for health of the bones, vitamin E which repairs cells and Vitamin B2 which is required for normal blood formation.
- One egg contains 65 calories.
- eggs and cardiovascular disease : No evidence of an overall significant association between egg consumption and risk of CHD(-coronary heart disease) or stroke in either men or women.Higher egg consumption appeared to be associated with increased risk of CHD only among diabetic subjects.
Egg Myths:
- All that cholesterol goes straight to your bloodstream and then into your arteries. Not so. For most people, only a small amount of the cholesterol
in food passes into the blood. Saturated and trans fats have much bigger effects on blood cholesterol levels.
- Eating eggs is bad for your heart. The only large study to look at the impact of egg consumption on heart disease—not on cholesterol levels or other
intermediaries—found no connection between the two. In people with diabetes, though, egg-a-day eaters were a bit more likely to have developed heart disease
than those who rarely ate eggs.
Recommendation :
- If you like eggs, eating one a day should be okay( especially if you cut back on saturated and trans fats ).
- Boiled egg is healthier than an omelette.
- Store eggs in the refrigerator where they will stay fresh for about one month.
- Nutritionists suggest that you can consume three eggs in a week to receive adequate health benefits.
- healthy people can safely enjoy eggs without increasing their heart attack risk.
- eggs' satiety index is 50% than that of most breakfast cereals
- The shell's colour is not related to the quality or nutritional value of the egg itself.
- eating two eggs for breakfast can help us to lose weight.
In land of sunshine, Indians suffer Vitamin D deficiency ?
Yes, in the land of plentiful sunshine (which makes this vitamin in the body), we suffer from Vitamin D deficiency. In short, it’s right to say that people of both north and south India suffer from this deficiency, in many cases even poor bone health.
One big reason: lack of calcium in the diet. Vitamin D helps in the absorption of calcium in the body. Indian doctors who’ve studied this say in
- rural India, due to exposure to sun, Vit-D levels are good in the body but calcium intake is poor
- urban India, due to better diet, calcium levels in the body are sufficient but Vitamin D level is poor. Blame it on long indoor hours (often under air conditioner) and inadequate exposure to sun.
D FOR DEFICIENCY
The causes:
Indoor confinement during the day
Darker skin pigmentation
Use of sunscreen
Poor intake of calcium
Low maternal levels of vitamin D
Vegetarian diet as vitamin D occurs only in foods of animal origin
Living at higher altitude
Preventive measures:
Direct exposure to sunlight, at least 30 minutes/day
Good calcium intake (equivalent to 1 litre of milk)
Artificial fortification of dairy products or infant foods
Supplementation to lactating mothers
If on supplements, check for optimum dosage
So recommended Calcium intake is :
- Babies( between 0 and 6 months ) - at least 210 milligrams of calcium/day.
- Kids( between 7 months and 1 year )- 270 mg/day
- Children( between 1 and 3 year)- 500 mg/day
- Children( between 4 and 8 year)- 800 mg/day
- Children( between 9 and 13 year)-1300 mg/day
- Adults( between 19 and 50 )- 1000 mg/day
- Calcium source : Milk is actually only one of many sources of calcium—dark leafy green vegetables and some types of legumes are among the other sources.
- 100 gm milk has 120 mg of calcium.
- Skimmed cow's milk contains slightly more calcium than full-fat milk because calcium is found in the watery part, not the creamy part.
- If you are taking a supplement to get your daily calcium make sure you are also taking magnesium with it.Magnesium is the transport that brings the calcium to your cells. The ratio of magnesium to calcium should be 2:1. In other words if you are taking 1200mg of calcium you should also be taking 600mg of magnesium for a complete solution.
- While skimmed milk is a perfect health drink for adults and is excellent as part of a fatcontrolled diet, it should not be given to children under five because of its low calorie, fat and vitamin content.
- Soya milk has long been regarded as the healthy alternative for those who are intolerant to lactose - the sugar found in cow's milk.
Hair loss and Yoga
Recently , I was reading about yoga and hair loss and that is what I was informed. There are 4 major culprits of this menace - stress, hormonal imbalance, digestive problems and inadequate nutrition. And there are 3 facets through which we can handle this problem.
- Extra supplements with Diet.
- Yoga
- Diet itself
Extra supplements with Diet : Please note that using Amla, Reetha, Heena or any other home remedy for that matter will not drive away these culprits alone ( though helps).
Yoga : Yoga can help in making hair strong and can also help in stopping hair non-genetic loss.
Pranayam especially anulom vilom where we breathe in from one nostril and breathe out from the other is excellent for relaxation and stress reduction.
Sirsasana - balancing our entire body on our head
Sarvangasana - balancing your body on your head and shoulders by placing your hips on the palms of your hands
Ustrasana - wherein we bend backwards as we kneel and clasp the heels of our feet with our hands.
Pawanmuktasana - helps cure constipation. Lie on the floor and breathe in and as we breathe out, hug our knees to our chest. This asana along with Ustrasana (mentioned above) is very good for digestion and metabolism.
These asanas boost circulation to our scalp, face and thyroid thereby promoting super healthy hair, youthful and glowing skin and also help cure any hormonal imbalances.
Diet : Practice these asanas over a period of time and hair should become strong. But not without some healthy food…Deficiency of certain vitamins and fat (that's right, dieting is bad for your hair) cause hairfall. If we are on a low-fat diet we risk losing hair because fats are necessary for absorbing Vitamin A and E which are a must for healthy hair. Other essential nutrients are - Vitamin B complex, B12, Vitamin C, proteins and carbohydrates.
Lists of foods which are rich in the above mentioned nutrients:
* " Vitamin A - pumpkin (richest in Vit A), dried apricot, carrot and spinach
* " Vitamin E - wheat germ, almond, avocado and coconut (therefore coconut oil is good for hair)
* " Healthy fats to absorb Vit A and E - Kachi ghani tel also known as cold-pressed oil like extra virgin olive oil, mustard oil, and coconut oil. Omega 3 fatty acids like flax seeds, walnuts and oily fish are also very good.
* " Vitamin B-complex - Available in most food items rich in carbohydrates like wheat and rice
* " Vitamin C - berries (like amla), lemon, oranges and guavas (these have four times more Vitamin C than any other fruits)
* And lastly, if we have been vigorously rubbing the tips of our fingernails against each other in the hope of having healthy hair, acupressure specialist Omar Farooque of Mumbai's Evolve Med Spa reveals, "There is no science that proves that doing so will promote healthy hair. Rather this practise is a belief, since the tips of our nails have reflex points that stimulate blood flow to the eyes, sinuses and head onwards....So what about Baba Ramdeve's Rule
Playing football for 1 hr/day is better than meditation
How to be healthy with just one lunch...
1. Every human has cancer attack in his life many time but his/her body takes care of such attacks and very few-whose body can not cope up with such attack , gets this as disease.
2. We must include Flax seeds (alsi ka beej) in our diet.Flax seeds contain high levels of dietary fiber+abundance of micro-nutrients+omega-3 fatty acids. Flax seeds may lower cholesterol levels, especially in women.
3. Every 3rd Norwegian gets cancer in Norway( little doubtful).
4. Cancer cells need sugar to stay healthy and has master-slave cell structure - where slaves are passive until master is active and once master is dead(or removed), they become active and can cause more damage than before.
5. Haldi(Turmeric) is the best preventive to protect against cancers( like prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer,Breast Cancer ) and so in every evening everyone should drink one glass of milk with half tablespoon of haldi+kali mirch.
6. One should eat( or drink it's juice) wheat grass' as much as possible. It boosts the immune system, metabolism and increases the rate at which body burns fat.
There may be some of the things which may not be 100% accurate but even if they are 80% correct...it can make us much healthier...
Doctors in Rural India ?
For example, I looked at the trend in Maharastra( and rest of India is not very better than it ).
The Directorate of Medical Education and Research ( DMER) has following trend information :
-Graduate : Out of the 2000-odd MBBS students passing out of the public colleges every year , 100 go to serve in rural areas.
- PG : Out of the 1,000-odd who pass out every year, less than 50 are found taking up a job in rural areas.
Maharastra, Directorate of Health Services (DHS) stats reveals following:
2005-06 : out of 748 doctors only around 233 had joined the service.
2008-09 : out of 1,217 , only 174 candidates joined state-run hospitals.
2010-11 : Out of the 2,136 applicants who showed interest in joining government hospitals in,only 285 candidates actually ended up taking the job.
Last 5 years : out of the 7,486 applications received from doctors who were willing to serve in rural hospitals only 1,376 actually joined the service.
Another aspect : Why should the rural population be left at the disposal of doctors who are not trained equivalent to their counterparts in the country.
What should be done :
- Problem is there in legislation only; main problem is there in implementation. The people who are responsible at the district level are not interested about their role and do not have enthusiasm to solve the issue. They can complain easily about the unavailability of doctors but do not involve in part of solution.
- Problem is also there in rural healthcare infrastructure as well, doctors should have basic facilities to serve in rural hospitals/health centres so along with basic personal immunities like fooding, security and lodging for health care staff including doctors. This will help them in focusing on the health of rural area.

Pomegranates : We produce 60% of world's pomegranates and export 2%

My Dad loves pomegranate and its juice. And so I have the natural tendency of loving it as well. We in India get this juice on most of the local juice corners. But slowly and slowly it is getting costlier and costlier and so getting out of the reach of common people. I just got to know that India produce around 60% of worlds's pomegranates and has number 1 ranking in world.
India produce so many diverse variety of fruits and vegetables which are not possible in many other countries of the world. But still Indian fruits and vegetable export is very less as compare to many other countries.
For entrepreneur's point of view ,India has a great window of opportunity for the people working in food and vegetable export business. And that is the reason why Ashutosh Sawant(IIM-B) took up the challenge of making career in this feild. He started by working with farmers and help them produce export-quality fruits and vegetables and finally export them. He started a firm which looks at exporting frozen fruits like alphonso mangoes, frozen strawberry, pomegranate arils, frozen vegetables and cauliflower florets.
He says - "The main reason why our products could not be exported was because we used farming methods that were unacceptable in other countries — like using banned pesticides. I will work closely with farmers, help them with best practices and finally export the produce,"
Ashutosh has already started his pilot projects. Back at his hometown in Kadegoan, Karad taluk, Maharashtra, he has entered into a contract with the owner of a 150-acre mango grove. "I helped the farmers with the technical knowhow like dip irrigation and use of chemicals. They do not have access to such knowledge. I consulted with the Central Food Technological Research Institute. The first produce is almost ready," he said.
The total value addition to fruits and vegetables in India is less — around 4% — compared to global standards of 45%-50%, he points out.
Once the produce is there, he will look at marketing it to retail chains in other continents. The processing involves cleaning them from chemicals, cutting them according to the specifications of the client and packing in refrigerated containers.
In the experiment, a group of men and women were given a 500ml bottle of pomegranate juice to drink every day for four weeks. The researchers found that nearly half of all volunteers had much lower NEFA levels by the end of the trial. They believe that this will make them less likely to store fat around their stomach.
Besides, more than 90 per cent of the men and women had lower blood pressure by the month end.
There is no doubt that pomegranate juice is beneficial in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease because results showed a significant and consistent lowering of blood pressure.

Indian's Heart needs more Valentine Days
As today is valentine day..it is justified to be concerned about the heart. As Indian I think we need more such days when people think about the heart not just to impress someone's heart but to save someone's heart as well.....BUT WHY ?Answer is : The Indian heart, due to a faulty genetic makeup, is more prone to heart diseases than an African or a Caucasian one. Worse, several studies have revealed that Indians are likely to suffer heart attacks a decade earlier than other ethnicities. Factors such as urbanisation, the rapid Westernisation of the traditional diet and stress worsen the weak-heart syndrome.
Want stats to understand the seriousness, please read following :
Population : 1 billion+
No. 1 Killer disease : Heart disease
Cardiologist : 4000
Cardiac surgeons : 1200
Desired ratio : 50 cardiologists per million
( PS : India lacks authentic data on the causes of deaths. )
Stars : Dr Naresh Trehan,Dr Devi Shetty,Ramakant Panda etc....
So, heart disease is not an emerging problem anymore. It has already emerged as a ma
jor cause of death in rural areas.Awareness about the first aid is not there in common people or if they are aware then means are not there to get the first aid within the time period*.
*
1. Treatment is most effective when started within 1 hour of the beginning of symptoms.
2. Next 15-30 minutes are most crucial after an heart-attack.
So what is needed :
1. Special laws which forces to have a cardiac unit in every nursing home with 24x7 trained staff and complusery ambulance facility.
2. Door to door Heart disease awareness programs and prevention plan.
3. Special cardiac care departments in each general hospitals.
4. Free ECG checkups at all the nursing homes and clinics.
Why Neem Honey should be used more for healthsake ?
Later I tried to explore the goodness of Neem Honey and surprised to know that it is one of the finest Honey type for everybody. It is obtained from the Neem tree. So Neem Honey is natural blend of anti-inflammatory+anti-tussive+antiseptic qualities of Neem plus antiviral and faster curing properties of Honey. As per the records :

1. It is good for improving eye sight.
2. Harmless for diabetic patients.
3. Good Blood Purifier.
4. Improves complexion of body.
5. Natural tonic for kids.
Best Usage: One Teaspoon before bedtime or once a day in the morning before breakfast.
Note : Do not mix with anything HOT as this will destroy the live enzymes in the honey and cause some of the venom to evaporate.
