Western way of thinking abt public schools

On my way to hotel I bought an english news paper Copenhagen post ( I guess only one in english) and tried to understand the city from a different angle. Main news that caught my attention was the following :

Copenhagen City council had 2011-budget of 872 billion kroners ( 79253355 crore ) and out of that budget they used 900 million less. So city council had a meeting to decide what to do with the remaining 900 million kroners and unanimous decision was to use that money for uplifting the infrastructure of government schools as that is area where the local government has priority.

When I was reading this news I was just wishing
  • How fortunate our Indian kids could have been if our politicians had the same feelings for our kids- specially the kids who go to public school. I myself went to public school and know the environment and attention we get there. Not sure if ever city council has given so much attention to publich school. Privatization of education has taken so much priority that nobody thinks about the public school. All the public school teachers who are good take private classes just because of apathy of 'local government'. God knows if this kind of trend will lead us to a point where we will be able to say that All indian kids have 'basic right of being educated upto high-school'. If so then we will be real knowledge capital of the world.
  • sense of responsibility should prevail over our political lords and they also raise themselves from party, religion, region and think genuinely about the development of city/country.

Problems with kids ?

He once said the problem with children is that they carry your heart with them. The exact phrase was, “It’s your heart running around outside your body.”

Can you guess the guy ??

Why Neem Honey should be used more for healthsake ?

My niece has comparably weaker immune system and thus she is susceptible to cold. On my recent visit to India , one of the experienced KGMC,lucknow doctor told me to give her the some natural things to improve his immunity. One of those things was Neem Honey. He asked her and us to use it in our daily life as it is full of Vitamins & Minerals. I did some efforts before I finally got a bottle of Neem Honey at matabadal pansari,Aminabad.

Later I tried to explore the goodness of Neem Honey and surprised to know that it is one of the finest Honey type for everybody. It is obtained from the Neem tree. So Neem Honey is natural blend of anti-inflammatory+anti-tussive+antiseptic qualities of Neem plus antiviral and faster curing properties of Honey. As per the records :
1. It is good for improving eye sight.
2. Harmless for diabetic patients.
3. Good Blood Purifier.
4. Improves complexion of body.
5. Natural tonic for kids.

Best Usage: One Teaspoon before bedtime or once a day in the morning before breakfast.
Note : Do not mix with anything HOT as this will destroy the live enzymes in the honey and cause some of the venom to evaporate.

Some more points for Honey in general :
Ancient Greek athletes consumed honey to boost their energy and performance levels during Olympics events as it contains glucose and fructose, known to produce tremendous reserves of glycogen in the liver.1-TS in night can support our brain function. The fructose is stored as energy reserves in the liver, ready to fuel the brain overnight.

Colds are caused by viruses and honey is a natural antiviral. In a Pennsylvania State College of Medicine study, a spoonful of honey outperformed over-the-counter cold remedies.,Research in 2007 by Shone Blair at Sydney University concluded that honey dressings for superbug wound infections should be used as a 'first choice'.

Honey supports friendly gut bacteria, aiding digestion, and is good for those with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and thrush. According to previous studies, one should consume 2 TS , 3 times a day for gastric ulcers.

Honey boosts the immune system and has an antibacterial effect internally and externally, helping the body to heal.

The Namesake - another revisit

After 3 years,A watched the The Namesake , a movie that has more meaning and substance to the Indians settled abroad.I also looked at Nikolai Gogol to unearth the hidden treasure about him as well.Somewhere I am deeply touched with the events portrayed in the film and experienced the deja vu.

I guess the real credit goes to Jhumpa Lahiri for writing such a great novel and then to Mira Nair and her team for the remarkable film. It perfectly shows the :
1. Indian immigrant family experience
2. Emotion of Indian parents and relatives.
3. Generational gap between NRIs and their foreign born kids

I wish kids of all the NRIs/PIOS and their kids watch this movie and love and respect the culture( irrespective of the problems and issues that we face in India ).

I wish in future,my kids ( if they stay in foreign land for rest of their life) watch this movie and understand the feelings of Indian parents and culture.

What the head ?

Kids of these days are the big 'copy cats' or kind of fastest learners...
Yesterday my 6 years old son surprised me when we miss the metro and he said in his cute style 'What the head'......I asked what did you said and he replied 'Thomas'(close friend of him) says it many time ONLY WHEN he misses something.
Today he told me when :
1.somebody talks really fast and
2.we do not understand what he is saying then
we should say 'what the hech is you talking about?'

So now he is actually starting to use the words of The WORLD.

Coaching or Training ?

Here in Norway, kids called the guy who train them trainer but I was thinking they should call him 'Coach' as I had the impression that when I coaching is almost same as training until now. But I just wanted to confirm.SO here what I found on internet :

  • Coaching is a broader term and training is a specific term.
  • Coaching is super set which includes training.
  • Coaching is more related with motivation, vision and inspiration while training is related with specific skills.Coaches have to play several roles they have to be your friend, they have to be your mentor and they have to be trainer.
  • Coaches have to play several roles they have to be your friend, they have to be your mentor and they have to be trainer.
So now I know why they call the guy trainer not the coach because it just train them to start with and may become coach in later stage. :)
